Meijer Building Contractors is a family-owned business, established in 1991 in Potchefstroom, in South Africa's North West. From the start we've worked across both commercial and residential — apartment blocks, modern homes, and full developments shaped from the ground up.
There's a reason so much of South Africa is still built by family-run firms. The standard sits with the family — held in place by a trusted team that's grown around it. Thirty years in, that's still how it works at Meijer.
In 2017 the business moved to the Garden Route, bringing all of that experience with it. Today we work for homeowners across Knysna, Sedgefield, Brenton, George and Wilderness — the same standard, in a part of the country we're proud to call home.
Our work spans new residential builds, renovations, restorations, and full developments delivered for private clients — concept to handover. Whatever the scale, the standard doesn't change.
Thirty years in, the things that built this business are the same things keeping it strong. Careful work. Honest schedules. Trades that stay with us, year after year. And a constant eye on what's next — new technology, new methods, new ways of building better. An old name that still feels new where it matters.

We meet on site or over a coffee. You talk, we listen — site, brief, budget, timing. No pressure, no quote on day one. Just a clear understanding of what you want, and whether we're the right people to build it.

Drawings & scope
We work alongside your architect, or recommend one we trust. Plans are finalised, materials chosen, and a clear scope agreed before a single brick is laid. Nothing left vague.

Quotation
A clear, fair quotation based on the agreed scope — line by line, no surprises along the way. If anything changes during the build, you'll know about it before it happens, not after.

Build
Hands-on management, weekly check-ins, and a clean, organised site you'd happily walk visitors through. The same people who quoted you are the people behind the work — start to finish.

Handover
A thorough snag list, walked together and closed before the keys change hands. We're around for the first year — anything that needs sorting, sorts itself.
